In both cases, I'm presuming that the player max out the masteries quickly and spend some time learning how to make the most of the mount. The real difference is that the Skyscale allows you more flexibility as you move around.
The fastest and very agile. As long as you start from a high spot. The rollerbeetle is like a drifting dirtbike. The second fastest mount, and the fastest on land. The skyscale is like a helicopter. Can't go as far as the griffon without having to land, but can freely move in all directions. It also helps you get a high spot anywhere to set off

fun fact! if you have your dye panel open in your hero panel and preview a mount skin in the game it will show the currently used dyes for that mount, you can mess around and rearrange dyes and refresh the preview by double clicking it again. It does, but it's finnicky yes. It's really nice though.
