135 mm Spacing is the norm for current mountain bikes and hybrids. 140, 145, 160 mm Spacings are used on tandems. 140 is pretty much extinct--current tandems either use 145 or 160. Steel frames can generally be respaced to fit a wider hub with no problem, just by bending the stays outward.

The actual diameters of the rims are: 26″=22in/559mm. 27.5″=23in/584mm. The difference in rim diameter between 26″ and 27.5″ wheels is closer to 1in/25mm than 1.5in/37.5mm. The bottom bracket is expected to drop approximately 0.5in or 12.7mm. So, the tires are flat if the 26-inch electric bicycle kit is on the 27.5 frames.

Free Member. I’ve been using a 27.5 160mm Pike on my Mega with 26″ wheels for the past year for exactly the same reasons. No issues and it has paid off now with a transplant to my new 27.5
